Call for papers: Conference on Asian Philosophical Texts

October 25–27 2018 at Centre for East Asian Studies (EASt), Université Libre de Bruxelles

The conference on Asian Philosophical tests aims at providing a platform for scholars in the field of Asian Studies and world philosophies to both discuss and perform the task of translating Asian philosophical texts into western languages. Any papers on the philosophy of translation, critical analyses of existing translations, or ongoing translation projects are welcomed.

Call for Papers: Zhu Xi and Zhu Xi Studies at Trier University

The Institute of Sinology at Trier University will host an international conference on "Zhu Xi and Zhu Xi Studies (Zhuzi xue 朱子學)" on July 13 - 15 2018 in order to commemorate the 888th anniversary of the famous Chinese thinker Zhu Xi.

Conference languages: Chinese (preferred) and English.

Reminder: XXIV World Congress of Philosophy

The XXIV World Congress of Philosophy will take place in Beijing between August 13-20, 2018. This is an occasion to highlight aspects of Chinese philosophy. The deadline for sending in an abstract is February 1st (late deadline is April 1st).  Submissions should not exceed 1,800 words (or 3,000 characters for papers submitted in Chinese), and should be accompanied by a 200 words abstract (500 characters in Chinese).


Call for Papers: 5th International STCS Conference: From Hegel to Mao and Beyond — The Long March of Sinicizing Marxism

The 5th International STCS Conference will be held in Ljubljana between April 20-22, 2018. The main goal of the STCS (Specific Topics in Chinese Studies) conferences (organized by the Department of Asian Studies at the University of Ljubljana) is to use knowledge and flow of information through various disciplines to encourage and advance the study of specific topics related to China.

Call for Papers: International Conference on “Confucian Canon Studies (jingxue 經學), Literary Genre and Literary Style”

Location and Date: Trier University on July 21–23 2017.
Conference languages: Chinese (preferred) and English.

Selected scholars from Europe accepted for the conference will receive free accommodation in Trier during the conference. If funds are sufficient, a travel subsidiary may also be granted. We are mainly looking for participants affiliated to European institutions. Young scholars are especially welcome.

Call for papers: 2nd Biennial EACP Conference

We are glad to announce the 2nd Biennial Conference of the European Association for Chinese Philosophy under the title Global Chinese Philosophy which will take place at the University of Basel, Switzerland, from September 7 - 9, 2017.

Scholars with interest in Chinese philosophy and philosophy in China are invited to submit proposals for individual papers or panels to Ralph Weber ( [at]

Abstracts should be no more than 200 words. Panel proposals should include the title and a brief description of the panel, as well as the names, affiliations, and email addresses of the participants. Please also provide the titles of each participant’s presentation. The deadline for submission is March 31, 2017. Notice of acceptance of proposals will be sent to your e-mail address by the end of April, with instructions for how to register and submit the conference registration fee (EACP members: 60 EUR for scholars and 20 EUR for students, non-members: 80 EUR for scholars and 30 EUR for students).

To encourage participation and inclusion of young researchers, there will be a Young Scholars Award. MA holders and PhD candidates who submit a paper proposal should therefore indicate whether they wish to compete for the award. Winners of the award will be receiving a full travel grant and prize money.

The deadline for paper submission and round-table proposals, workshops and student sessions is October 1 2017. Papers and proposals accepted after this deadline may be accepted if there is space still available, but no later than February 1 2018.
